Special handstamp for your Valentine's greeting cards

For the seventh year, you can send a mark of love to a friend or loved one on Valentine's Day. We offer a special handstamp for the holiday through a remailing programme.

Commemorative handstamps are a special service of the Czech Post attractive both locally and abroad. Handstamp impressions can be made on ordinary letter mail, first day covers as well as other commemorative sheets prepared by the Czech Post to mark special occasions, such as the recent World Stamp Exhibition Praga 2008, Pope Benedict XVI's visit to the Czech Republic, or the 20th anniversary of the Velvet Revolution.

Commemorative handstamps, marking regular holidays and available at the same place and on same day, make a special category. Love is celebrated in Milostín (or Love Town in English), Easter in Kraslice (or Easter Eggs in English), birth of a child in Křtiny (or Christening in English), and Christmas in Boží Dar (or God's Gift in English). Each annual handstamp bears a different design: as such, it is a precious collector's item.

The Milostín and Boží Dar handstamps are the most attractive ones. Each year, the post offices stamp dozens of kilograms of dedicated cards and letters. This year's volume of Christmas mail was 675 kilograms. The official figures for love cards are much lower - the post office in Milostín stamped less than 150 kilograms of Valentine's cards in the past six years, even though the designs of Valentine's handstamps belong to the most beautiful ones. The 2010 handstamp, designed by the academic painter Jiří Rychtalík, features a couple of lovers. You can find more information about the handstamp on St Valentine, Milostín 2010.

How can I get a Valentine's handstamp?

Write the address of your friend or loved one and stick the appropriate stamp(s) on the card. Put the card into an empty envelope. Stick again the appropriate stamp(s) on the envelope and mail it to the address: Pošta Milostín, 270 05. The card will be stamped with the handstamp and remailed to the addressee.
