Two millions of data messages sent by now

In the evening of Tuesday, December 15th, 2009, the Data Mailbox Information System recorded the two millionth data message passing through the system exactly one month and a half after its launch. The data mailbox user's identity cannot be disclosed because of the secrecy of letters.

The project substantially changed the rules of delivery used by the state authorities. Nevertheless, statistical data shows that an absolute majority of data mailbox users have no difficulties using the system.

94.2% of data messages have been delivered on the user's logging into the system. This makes the rate of fictitious deliveries (messages deemed as delivered the 10th day after sent, even if the user has not logged into the mailbox and downloaded the message) lower than 6%. The figure is comparable with fictitious deliveries of physical letters.

The daily rate of messages passing through the Data Mailbox Information System is 80 thousand. The number has been steadily growing and is coming close to the number of registered letters delivered by the Czech Post and exchanged between individual public authorities or between public authorities and legal entities before launching the project.

Users send data messages free of charge. The system has already saved more than 50 millions CZK from the state budget (costs of data messages sent by public authorities that would otherwise have to pay for registered letters).

The Data Mailbox Information System is administered by the Ministry of the Interior. The system is operated by the Czech Post.
