On 18 June, Roman Knap, the winning candidate in the selection process organised by the Ministry of the Interior, was appointed Czech Post’s Director General.

The 43-year-old former Director General of SAP Czech Republic and SAP Slovakia said on Monday: “Czech Post must become a modern, well-functioning company with high-quality services and a range of products convenient for its clients. My main focus will be on an improvement of the working conditions for all employees and on the company’s profit. Postal personnel should be adequately remunerated for their demanding work. Czech Post deserves to be a well-recognised company.”

As requested by the Ministry of the Interior, the main tasks Czech Post is currently facing include a faster implementation of the Partner Post Office project; modernisation of its sorting and parcel hubs; improvement of the IT infrastructure quality level; concentrating more on the range of services that are profitable.

“Our vision and the new Director General’s vision of the future direction of Czech Post are identical. The company has enormous management generating high costs, and slimming this layer down must be Mr. Knap’s key task. Management-related cost optimisation is a necessary step. So is an improvement of the employees’ conditions and of services provided to the general public,” added Lubomír Metnar, Minister of the Interior.

Roman Knap worked for the Czech affiliate of SAP from 2014. In early 2018, he was also appointed Director General of the Slovak affiliate. His previous employers included Oracle and KPMG Consulting. He graduated from the University of Economics in Prague.
