Use a driver's license to prove your identity at post offices

In response to our customers' motions, we have introduced a new service. From the beginning of 2010 you will get your mail or money orders not only against your identity card or passport but also when you produce your driver's license. This applies to all driver's licenses issued to Czech nationals in the Czech Republic.

The mail or remitted money deposited at a post office will be delivered to the addressee (in person), or to a person authorised by the addressee who produces the so-called Recipient Card issued by the Czech Post or legalised power of attorney. The latter does not apply to mail or money from a sender who asked for delivery to the addressee only.

You will find more information in the following documents:

  • Recipient card
  • Conditions of delivery of mail /mail orders
  • Rules of delivery of mail and money orders
