Czech Post is doing well. Revenues in the first half of the year exceeded CZK 10 billion

The profits of CZK 460 million and total revenues of CZK 10.033 billion achieved during the first half of the year indicate the ability of Czech Post to generate income which will safeguard its development even in a fully competitive environment, despite the steady downward trend in the letter mail segment.

Both the classic postal services and electronic services contributed to the positive figures. A significant role was played by the new parcel portfolio, with an increasing income from services provided to support eGovernment. Despite the loss of interest in ordinary letter mail services seen over a long period of time, income from registered letter mail services has maintained its stable position among Czech Post's total revenues. New business areas, such as distribution of newspapers and magazines started in mid-2011 and attracting growing interest, also helped Czech Post achieve a good financial performance.

The main area where Czech Post saved costs was overhead costs of materials and services, mainly thanks to new tenders for older contracts.

"Our good financial performance guarantees that we will be able to finish the process of transition to full liberalisation which requires funds for a demanding investment programme. This includes the final stage of modernisation of our logistics capability as well as investments into ICT and new technologies," said Ing. Petr Zatloukal, Czech Post's Director General.
