Christmas is a period of wishes writing. Children write to Father Christmas, adults exchange wishes for a peaceful holiday season. The traditional habits are capable of surviving even in the modern age of electronic communications - there are still many people who opt for a postcard and handwritten wishes to their friends, instead of an SMS. Father Christmas Post will be operating at the Post Office in Boží Dar (or God's Gift in English) already for the 17th year. Christmas postcards and letters start arriving here already a month before the Christmas holiday. Their senders have one thing in common - all of them want to have their wishes decorated with an original Father Christmas handstamp. Father Christmas postal workers stamped more than 400 kg of Christmas mail, i.e. thousands of items, last year.

Father Christmas' term of office in Boží Dar is December 1st-23rd. This year, he will be helped by the local Information Centre workers, instead of employees of the Czech Post. Under a pilot project called Partner Post Office, the Czech Post contracted out some of its services to the town council, that provides them to the local population and tourists visiting this beautiful town in the Krušné Hory mountains through the local Information Centre.
