Philatelists and those who are interested in unique postage stamps have a reason to celebrate. Czech Post has unveiled a unique postage stamp in Czech history today. The flag of the Czech Republic is one of the national symbols. Starting from 14 October, it has appeared on a postage stamp. Its atypical format marks a revolution in stamp design. Unlike the common formats that are customary to our clients, the format of the stamp is irregular. The stamp has the classic scalloping on the lower side only, and even here the arrangement is irregular. The perforation lines on the other three sides are atypically cut and the entire stamp emulates a Czech flag flying in the wind.

Following the first round stamp portraying Jára Cimrman, this irregularly shaped stamp is another contribution to the rich portfolio of Czech stamp design.

This definitive self-adhesive stamp has the A-value corresponding to the price of a domestic standard ordinary letter up to 50 g (CZK 13). The graphic designer is Pavel Hrach. The stamp is coming out in the volume of 4 million, with the possibility of reprint.

The commemorative postage stamp coming out on 14 October features a theme of Dalimil’s Chronicle. It has the value of CZK 21. The graphic designer is Zdeněk Ziegler, the engraver of the first day cover is Václav Fajt. The stamp is coming out in the volume of 500 thousand.

Another commemorative stamp features a likely portrait of Jakub Jan Ryba. The CZK 13 stamp is designed by Eva Hašková and engraved by Ĺubomír Žálec. The stamp is coming out in the volume of 750 thousand. 

Stamp design lovers will appreciate the second commemorative miniature sheet in the dedicated series Czech Statehood. Altogether the series will include five miniature sheets. The current CZK 54 miniature sheet is designed by Jan Maget and the first day cover is engraved by Václav Fajt. It is coming out in the volume of 51 thousand sheets, or 102 thousand stamps.
