Czech Post's financial performance: a positive trend

The Post finished the first half of this year with revenues amounting to CZK 10,490 million; the posted profit of CZK 674 million after deduction of one-off items supports the amount of profits planned for 2011 and the anticipation that the new management board will be able to fully meet this year's financial plan.

"This is a solid performance considering the steady downward trend in the income from letter services. I consider it very positive that we have been able to compensate for this trend mostly by our income from the segment of parcel services, which has been corresponding to the dynamic market development. Our market share in the segment of online shopping has been showing an even significantly faster growth," said Petr Zatloukal, Czech Post's Director General, adding: "Our year-on-year revenue growth was CZK 350 million, and we have also posted a strong increase in the segment of electronic services. It is already clear that we will meet this year's financial plan."

The positive performance is partially due to an ongoing process of cost structure optimisation, with operational and overhead costs savings being already evident on a year-on-year basis.
